Junior Anglers

HHAC welcomes junior anglers and supports them as they learn the skills, confidence and fish care needed to enjoy fishing responsibly. We want young people to spend time outdoors, respect the waters and help keep the future of angling alive.

A Message from the Club Secretary

Junior anglers are the future of HHAC and of angling itself. By encouraging young people into fishing, helping them learn the waters and teaching good angling practice early, we help protect the club and keep the sport alive for future generations.

At HHAC, we want junior members to feel welcome, supported and encouraged. Our aim is not to catch young anglers out or make honest mistakes feel like something to be ashamed of. Instead, we want to help them understand why the rules matter and how good habits protect the fish, the waters and other members.

Fish care, safe tackle, respecting wildlife and looking after the banks are all things that can be taught, nurtured and encouraged. We would much rather guide and educate young anglers than simply criticise them.

Fishing gives young people the chance to spend time outdoors, enjoy fresh air, build patience and learn respect for nature. In a world where it is easy to spend more time indoors, on phones, consoles or screens, angling offers something slower, calmer and more rewarding.

Every experienced angler started somewhere. We want HHAC to be a place where the next generation can learn, improve and feel proud to be part of the club.

Our goal is simple: to help young anglers enjoy fishing safely, responsibly and with confidence.
